BSBI vice-county 61 local group

The Atlas 2020 project concluded at the end of 2019, and the last of the records have been transferred by Richard Middleton to the database of the BSBI. Their plan is to have "everything ready to publish online by the beginning of 2022". In the meantime, a hectad (10km-square) map of records in Britain and Ireland, organised by date class up to and including 2010-19, can be viewed for any plant by following the BSBI map database link in the Home menu, clicking on the heading "maps", and entering the name of the taxon.

For vc61, records can be viewed on this website: The Progress maps shows hectad maps for every plant we have recorded, compared with the distribution mapped in Atlas 2000. The Tetrad maps show the data, at a finer level, superimposed on the 1990 maps from Eva Crackles' 1990 flora (when available).

Along with the usual eclectic mix of news items, a series of short reports on last year's field meetings, with some photographs, can be found on the current news page.

I am very grateful that Richard, although he has retired as vc recorder along with Peter Cook, has offered to continue to maintain the vc61 website.
